Vinyl Care and Maintenance

Vinyl floors are easy to maintain and are extremely resistant to stains and wear.

• Frequently sweep, dust mop or vacuum your floor to remove loose dirt or debris which can cause scratches.
• Do not use soap-based detergents, abrasive cleaners, wax or "mop and shine" products - they may leave a dull shine on your floor.
• Never use a steam cleaner, scouring powder products or steel wool.
• Wipe up spills with a damp cloth of water as soon as possible and thoroughly dry with a clean cloth.
• No-wax floors should be cleaned with an ammonia-based cleaner. Most manufacturers make their own line of cleaning products.
• Vinyl floors without no-wax finish should be cleaned the same way, but will also require a vinyl floor finish as a protective coating applied several times a year.
• Spot clean your floor as needed with a manufacturer-recommended cleaner.
• Place area rugs or non-rubber backed floor mats in high-traffic areas to catch excess soiling.
